Student Council’s annual Holiday Auction on December 3rd raised $3200 for student scholarships. Thirty people showed up to bid, and another 20 sent bids by email to try to get bargains on the 172 items donated by area businesses and residents. Student council members showed the items while auctioneer Mr. Coster entertained the crowd, lightening the mood for the sometimes fierce bidding.
The fiercest bidding was for the Eli Manning poster, which finally sold for $56. Also setting off a bidding war was the Kenneth Cole watch which sold for $75. Another hot item was the Jericho Cotchery poster, which went for $52, and the highest price paid item at the auction, a Marc Jacobs pocketbook, went for $270.
The biggest buyer at the auction was Mrs. Savage who spent $800 on gift certificates, gift baskets, and much more. She managed to find something for everyone on her gift list.
If you missed it, there’s always next year. It’s great fun, a great way to shop, and a great way to support students with scholarships for college.
