Plotters are computer controlled machines that draw lines with incredible speed and precision using ‘vector graphics’. Plotters can be equipped with regular pens to draw on paper or knives to cut things like leather and vinyl.
In this free online class, students will learn about pen plotter machines, their history, use by artists,
and how the machines work. Students will learn the differencebetween vector (SVG) and raster images
(JPG, PNG) and how to make / convert images into SVGs. All students will have the opportunity to create their own artwork that will be drawn by a pen plotter.
To participate, you will need a computer (PC, Mac or Linux) you can install software on. Chromebooks won’t work with this application. You will also need access to the internet.
