Poetry Corner: One Last Time
Thin blonde hair up in a ponytail
Peach-colored, soft skin
I will never forget your mellow voice as you told me you
loved me
Being with you, I felt safe and care-free
You’re another angel added to the place above
Clouds in the sky remind me that you’re in heaven
Elvis was your favorite singer
When I hear his songs, I think of you
Your collection of Elvis paintings is now on my wall
Looking at them, I see your face
Your reaction still replays in my mind as we gave you a sparkling heart diamond necklace
Still in the box, but tangled up like my mind
as I remind myself that you aren’t here anymore
I don’t remember the last time I saw you, it has been that long
Hearing your voice one last time, before you’re gone
