Humans Rights Day
Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
I hope you are all doing well throughout these tough times.
What I would like to share with you today is an event which I can bet many of you don’t know about. No, it’s not a holiday where we get time off or make feasts. (Trust me, I would be thrilled to share that.) Nevertheless, this is a special day we should all acknowledge, and that day is known as Human Rights Day, which falls on December 10.
Allow me to give you background on why this holiday exists.
The recognition of Human Rights Day goes all the way back to the year 1948, when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of Human Rights. These rights were created to help end discrimination. It was made to assure that every person would have freedom, from the day we were born till the day they take their last breath.
So, how do we celebrate a day? Well, that is simple. The way to celebrate is to defend one another because we all have equal rights that were given to us and no one is allowed to take away our freedom, our right to live, or our lives.
There are people in this world who decide to violate the basic rights of others. What we must do is defend those who are being oppressed, living with fear, and are scared to speak. We must help them understand their rights and unite together in order to make a difference in this battle between those who want peace to those who want to make others’ lives a misery.
