The Mercury staff caught up with some seniors on their way to college in this fall! Here is how one senior feels about her new up-and-coming experience!
Senior Valerie Kropf will be attending Suny Platsburgh in the fall. She will be majoring in Hospitality Management (hotel management), and her future career goals are to run a hotel or casino. Valerie will be taking general education, introduction to hospitality, lodging operations management, convention / meeting planning, international hospitality,
food/service operation management as her classes. As you all know, college does not come cheap, and although other seniors may have their own ways of paying for college, Valerie will be paying for college with the help of Financial Aid and loans. Valerie is also using Staford Loans and has already received $5500 for her first year!
Everyone out there who has heard anything about college knows that sometimes it can be a hard ajustment, and at times really nerveracking, but here is how Valerie feels about her “Off to College!” Valerie is very excited and knows that living on her own will take some getting used to, but she is very confident in her abilities and knows that she has what it takes to do what is needed to survive. Valerie says that she hopes to visit Canada because the campus of Suny Platsburgh is only 20 miles away. Valerie also explains that in her free time she will meet new people, study, go on ski trips, exercise, go to concerts, and much more.
Although Valerie will make sure to have tons of fun, she also knows her responsibilities. Valerie knows that she must get to class on time, do all of her work, and be very independent. Valerie also says how she will hopefully find a job as a student ambassador while she is in college.
The Mercury staff is proud to see that Valerie Kropf has set goals for herself that she would like to achieve in her future, and we wish her only the best of luck!
