Varsity Boys Take First Home Loss Against Panas
Two regular season games left, this Thursday at Lakeland and Friday at Home against Putnam Valley.
Looking to avenge a controversial loss from earlier this season, The Red Devils came out looking strong, but after the first quarter where it was tied 12 apiece, the Panthers never looked back. They shot the ball extremely well, played great defense causing turnover s, out-rebounded and overall out-played Peekskill. Chavis Pigott and Neock Brown both played fairly well but there was really no flow in the offense causing mistakes and a bad shotselection. The final score was 67-53. Although it was a blowout loss, there was a silver lining. Senior Elijah Dabbs, who was the teams manager, got to play his first minutes as a Red Devil. He didn’t disappoint, as he hit a 3 pointer from NBA Range causing the crowd to go into chaos. Time is ticking for the team to start clicking. They need to be consistent if they want to be a formidable team and make noise in the playoffs.
There are two main events this coming week that will be highlights in Peekskill Sports. This coming Thursday, February 6th, at PHS, the Girls Varsity Basketball Team will be playing their last Home game of the season at 6:15pm. The team will honor the Lady Red Devils Seniors who will be graduating this year. The next evening, Friday February 7th at 7pm, the Peekskill Boys Varsity Team will have their Senior Night as well. This will also be the end of an era as the legendary Coach Lou Panzanaro will coach his last home game ever at Peekskill High School after being the PHS Red Devils Boys Basketball Team Head Coach for more than 30 years. Please come out and support the Girls and Boys teams on Thursday at 6:15 and Friday at 7pm. Both days will be HISTORIC!
