Students Explore Future Opportunities at Mini-College Fair
Today, October 25, 2013, the Peekskill High School Guidance Department and College Resource Center hosted a mini-college fair in the cafeteria from 8-10am. The Guidance Department invited all Senior and Junior class students and encouraged all to attend. Over 400 students attended the event and were able to obtain information from over 35 colleges and universities. Mercury Staff Reporter, Elijah Boyd was on hand taking pictures and asking students and college representative’s questions. The Mercury spoke with Senior Class President Afua Yeboah on her reaction to the college fair. Afua was excited to see “the new and old schools that were coming.” Afua was waiting to speak with the Harvard University Representative since that is where she is thinking about going. Senior Liz Granda was excited to speak with the Mercy College Representative because, “they have a good Nursing Program.” She also stated that she was excited to see, “Pace University because that have a good nursing program as well.” A Mitchell College representative was very impressed with the turnout of the students here at PHS and stated the college fair, “went good. The students had lots of questions and it was a good turnout.” When asked if more students were interested in Mitchell College, he replied “Yes! At least 30 people or more.”
