A Fantastic Ski Club Event at Butternut Ski Resort!
On January 25th, the Peekskill High School Ski Club visited a beautiful ski paradise called Butternut Ski Resort in Massachusetts. Getting up early in the morning to catch the 6:30 coach bus didn’t seem like a challenge to the participating students. After a two hour drive, we arrived at the resort. We put our stuff down in the lodge, received our passes and we were set free to go. I took a free snowboarding lesson for first timers, which helped me tremendously later in the day. At 11:30, we had our gathering where our chaperones did a head count and we had lunch. It started snowing, which made the experience of skiing and snowboarding lovelier.
The second part of the day was when everybody got hang of what they were doing and got to know the place more. After long hesitations we decided to take the ski lift, which seemed like a fun idea and short ride…well we were wrong about that. We didn’t know it, but most of the lift was hidden behind a large hillside and it kept going on and on for about 20 minutes. We did not have and were far from the skills that were needed to go down on the black diamond or even the green circle. Everybody was worried that we wouldn’t make it down by the time we had to leave. People passed us with the speed of light and we just kept on falling and tripping every foot of the way. However, we had a lot of fun and by the end of the day we remembered it as something funny and something that we will never forget.
This trip was one of the best ones that I have been on. I met some fantastic people from the high school that I did not know before and made great memories with them. I can’t wait to attend the next trip in March and know I will have an amazing day again. My special thanks to Mr. Andujar for arranging the trip.
